CartArmor is a software tool that lets Shopify merchants show one optional add-on in their store cart. CartArmor is not the seller, provider, or guarantor of any product or service a merchant offers through it. The merchant is the seller of record and is solely responsible for the add-on, its description, price, fulfillment, refunds, and customer support.
CartArmor is not an insurance company, insurer, reinsurer, insurance agent, broker, intermediary, or claims administrator, and holds no insurance licence in any jurisdiction. CartArmor does not sell, offer, underwrite, solicit, negotiate, or administer insurance, warranties, extended warranties, service contracts, or guarantees, and does not handle claims.
Any "protection" or similar add-on offered by a merchant is a product or service of that merchant alone. Merchants must not use CartArmor to offer insurance or insurance-like products unless they hold every licence and authorization required where they sell, including under the EU Insurance Distribution Directive (EU) 2016/97 and the laws of each US state. Descriptions written by merchants must not represent an add-on as insurance unless it lawfully is.
Nothing in CartArmor, its default text, documentation, website, or support communications is legal, tax, regulatory, or financial advice. Default text and examples are placeholders that merchants must review and adapt. Merchants should seek their own professional advice.
The add-on is shown switched off by default, and the shopper chooses whether to add it. Merchants may enable an optional pre-selection setting. CartArmor does not apply pre-selection to shoppers whose storefront country is in the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, reflecting rules such as Article 22 of the EU Consumer Rights Directive 2011/83/EU and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, which restrict additional payments obtained through pre-ticked options. Country detection depends on the storefront country Shopify provides and may not always be accurate.
The merchant is responsible for complying with consumer-protection law in every market it sells to, including rules on unfair commercial practices (EU Directive 2005/29/EC and national equivalents), dark patterns, the US FTC Act and state "negative option" and junk-fee rules, and any requirement to obtain express consent before charging for extras.
Merchants set add-on prices in Shopify. Merchants are responsible for showing prices including applicable taxes where required, for any compare-at or "before" price being genuine (including the EU Price Indication Directive 98/6/EC as amended by the Omnibus Directive (EU) 2019/2161, which requires the prior price to be the lowest price in the previous 30 days), and for every statement in their add-on text, including social proof, delivery estimates, and benefit labels. Estimated ship dates are calculated from business days the merchant chooses and do not account for holidays, cut-off times, or carrier delays; they are estimates, not promises by CartArmor.
Where shoppers have a right to withdraw from or cancel a purchase, including the 14-day withdrawal right under EU and UK law, that right applies to the merchant's sale of the add-on. CartArmor does not process refunds or cancellations.
For personal data that CartArmor processes on a merchant's behalf through Shopify, the merchant is the controller and CartArmor acts as processor under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation. CartArmor does not build shopper profiles, sell personal data, or store payment details. See our Privacy Policy.
CartArmor aims to keep its cart card keyboard-accessible and screen-reader friendly. Merchants remain responsible for the accessibility of their storefront and theme, including obligations under the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882).
CartArmor does not guarantee any conversion rate, revenue, or outcome. Example figures on this website and in demonstrations are illustrative. The service depends on Shopify and third-party infrastructure and is provided "as is" as described in our Terms of Service.
